How to Create a Breakfast Nook

If you don’t have a dining room or you have limited space, a breakfast nook can be a great way to enjoy meals. As the name implies, this area is more of a nook than a room. It doesn’t have to be a permanent fixture (although you can make it one if you want something more fixed). You don’t need a lot of furniture, appliances and supplies to set up a breakfast nook, which makes it easy to set one up in your home. Keep reading to find out how to get started.

Choose a good spot. 

You won’t need a great deal of space. Ideally, you want enough space for a small table (a four-seater or similar) and one or two chairs. You can also use a section of your kitchen counter. A corner is ideal, as you can save space by placing the table into the corner. You can then place chairs in the open part of the table. A sunny spot near a window is always great. As long as the nook is out of the way and easy to access, it will be just right.

Get the right furniture.

As we mentioned above, a small four-seater table will work well along with a few dining or patio chairs. If you’re using your kitchen counter, you can look at bar stools. For small spaces, look for folding chairs and folding tables that can be moved out of the way when the area is not in use. Stools can also work well instead of chairs. You could even look for a bench placed against a wall to save even more space.

Prepare the table.

Whichever type of table you choose, the next step is to prepare it with everything you need to start your day. You can create a small coffee station if there’s enough space (or have one in close reach). You can set up a toaster or a breakfast pack. Add a serving tray, teapot and cups, a stack of plates, cutlery, napkins, condiments, juice glasses, placemats, a vase of flowers, and anything else you want to create a cosy breakfast spot.
