How to Create the Perfect Outdoor Space

No matter how small or large your garden or patio may be, you can create the perfect outdoor space with a few essentials. You can even set up a space on your balcony. During the hot South African summers, getting outside and enjoying a braai or relaxing as the sun starts to set is the best way to enjoy the hot weather. Even in the cooler months, being outside and getting fresh air is important. To help you create an inviting outdoor space, we’ve got some tips to share.

Planning the Ideal Outdoor Space

From dining to braaing and relaxing, here are the things you will need for your outdoor space.

Dining

If you have a larger patio or deck, a patio set is ideal. These typically include a small table with a few chairs and an umbrella to keep cool in the sun. You could also look at a picnic table. For smaller patios, a small cocktail table and just one or two chairs will work. You could even have a single chair if you have a balcony.

Braaing

Braaing is a huge part of life for most South Africans. There are many different braais to choose from, including large built-in braais to portable, compact braais. The latter is ideal for patios, gardens and even balconies, as they can be set up and packed away when not in use. They are also small enough to fit into a smaller space and do not require any installation. As a bonus, they are easy to clean as well.

Relaxing

Loungers are the way to go if you’re looking to relax and unwind. Although they are certainly ideal to position near the pool, you don’t have to have a pool to have loungers. These are best for larger patios, decks and gardens that have enough room to stretch out. Smaller areas can opt for something like deck chairs or outdoor chairs that are durable and waterproof. On a tiny balcony, you could even set up comfortable cushions and outdoor rugs for a relaxation area.
