Autumn may officially start in March, but the cool weather doesn't really arrive until April. Autumn is the season of expressing individual style in a bold yet effortless fashion. So what the key fashion trends do you need to express your individual style?

The world of fashion had its autumn/winter week/month a while ago in the month of February. As expected, it was an exhibition of what great fashion has always been about: making women (and men) look and feel good. Taking cues from the displays on the various runways, we know exactly what autumn/winter 2018 fashion trends to try. We are looking at trends including everything from animal print and leather, to the revisited men’s suits. Majority of trend pieces are first spotted on the runway during the fashion week shows. However, seeing how fashion influencers interpret them for everyday life helps you visualise how to adopt new pieces or looks. Taking cues from them, we have rounded up some of the biggest and most-wearable fashion trends for the in-coming cool weather. These would help you start piecing together your autumn/winter wardrobe in earnest.

Leading with rich jewel tones, luxurious textures, trendy prints and stylish essentials; Colour will remain a focal point in fashion this autumn. Explore the rich and deep shades that are prominent in autumn’s palette. Super-bright hues are so trendy at the moment so this year, expect to see bright colours and lots of them.

Animal print is having resurgence for autumn/winter 2018, in particular leopard print. Autumn plaid is starting to take on an edgier vibe when paired in an unexpected way. Checked prints were re-imagined in all kinds of ways and it works so well. Check is versatile and can be teamed with absolutely anything. A plaid suit will complete your autumn/winter wardrobe. For the men, the more clashing those checks, the better. So it is checks on plaids on tartans, all the way.

Talking about trends for men, brown is their shade of the season, bright, shiny and a statement. Men’s suits are making a comeback in a big way. These suits definitely mean business; well-tailored suits have always been statement-making staples and the power suit just became even more powerful. So gents, go get you brown suits but probably aim for shades in lighter, creamier hues than darker tan-like ones.

You are also getting layer-up in leather (and lots of it); this season it is leather trousers and all. Cowboy-esque boots were everywhere on the runways during the fashion week shows. They were must-have boots which make a statement with stylish detailing, trendy heels and various textures.

Mini or baby bags are the motto when investing in a bag this season. Moving away from the statement-making bags of past seasons, we can expect to see more dainty bags this autumn. The little bags are definitely cute, the smaller, the better.
