How to Create a Laundry Room

A laundry room is a great way to get washing and drying done in an organised space. You don’t have to have a huge, separate room, either. If you have a small corner in your kitchen or bathroom or even space in your garage, you can set up a mini laundry room. Create a dedicated space.

First things first, you’ll need to make the space itself. As we mentioned earlier, you don’t have to have entire rooms. Although separate rooms will be ideal, smaller areas also work well. You may have an unused area in your kitchen. You may have a corner in your bathroom that is not right for storage or anything else. You may even have a section of your garage that you can use. 

Set up your appliances.

Once you’ve chosen a space, you can set up your appliances. The great thing about home laundries is that there are many excellent washing machines and tumble dryers on the market. Investing in reliable appliances is essential. Choose the same brand or matching appliances that can be kept side by side or on top of one another if space is limited.

Add shelving or storage.

Next, it’s time to add storage. A few shelves fitted to walls will free up space. You can also get some laundry baskets. Separate, labelled baskets for whites, darks, and colours is a great idea. You could also use separate baskets for dirty and clean clothing. Shelving or containers for laundry products is essential. If you have a larger space and you don’t have a tumble dryer, you can add a compact wall-mounted drying rack or get a simple folding rack.
